DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub - Blogmas Day 13

Happy Blogmas everyone! I have a fun gift idea for those of you that want to make something quick and easy. I recently started using salt and sugar scrubs and I thought, hey! I can totally make this. I looked through so many different recipes and got some ideas of what I wanted to do. I inspired by A Pumpkin and A Princess. I decided to use organic and natural ingredients for this one. Unfortunately, the only non-awesome thing on here is my food coloring. I was going to juice a beet to use but then I realized that beets definitely dye your skin and I didn't want to risk that... Anyway, here is my DIY sugar scrub. I bought cute little mason jars to put them in and gift to my friends and coworkers!  I definitely kept a few for myself. Shhh! Hope you enjoy.

DIY Peppermint Sugar Scrub

1/2 Cup coconut oil (organic, cold-pressed)
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
4 drops of peppermint essential oil
1 1/2 Cup sugar (I used organic, fair trade sugar)
3 drops of red food coloring

Directions:
  1. Melt coconut oil. I put it in a glass container and heated it in my toaster oven on 200 degrees. You can also use a microwave - I try to avoid the microwave as much as I can, which is why I used my toaster oven. Make sure it is thoroughly melted.
  2. Place coconut oil, vitamin E oil, and peppermint oil in a bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Mix in sugar. Add more sugar or more coconut oil based on your preferences. My ingredients show what I prefer.
  4. Place half of the mixture in another bowl and mix in your food coloring.
  5. Layer in your jar, alternating between the red and the normal mix. Make sure your jar is clean before using!
