We Were Liars is a young adult fiction novel about a girl (Cadence) who suffers from terrible migraines and memory loss because of a freak accident that happened in Summer 15 (when she was 15 years old). The story brings us through her life post accident and her thought process as she remembers and piece together what happened that summer.

It is haunting and suspenseful in the most sophisticated way possible. It was hard to relate in the beginning as Cadence comes from a distinguished, rich, "perfect" family but the story is captivating. I am a person who enjoys discovering different writing styles and the unique voice of an author. The book is poetic and may not be a book to read for certain readers because of this unique writing style. I read it in a few short days, it was a fast read and different from what I have ever experienced.
